The primary objectives of this study were to characterize the composition and distribution of picoeukaryotes in the Nordic Seas, reveal spatial patterns of picoeukaryotic community structures, investigate linkages between community structures and the currents systems, and investigate the potential for using picoeukaryotic communities as indicators of interpreting the complex Nordic Sea Currents.
