Sorted PDGFRA+cells that were lineage-negative for other major intestinal cell type markers (EPCAM1, TER119, CD45, PECAM1) were obtained from the colon of 5 mice. Briefly, mice were given 2.0% (weight/volume) DSS (Thermo Fisher Scientific, #J14489-22) dissolved in water for 7 days for the acute model of DSS. In the chronic model, DSS-administration was followed by a water recovery phase lasting for another 7 days. This cycle was repeated 2 more times, with mice weights being recorded daily.
