The woman is standing at center and facing to the left with her hand on the wooden grave marker of her deceased husband. She is wearing a long dress and light-colored shirt. There are several other small, wooden, cross-shaped, grave markers in the area around Ramona, and behind and to the right of her are four gravesites surrounded by wooden picket fences. There is a large rock formation on a hill in the background at right. Ramona and Alessandro were Cahuilla Indians upon whom Helen Hunt Jackson based her book Ramona.
