Genome Assembly of a Male Chinese Macaque

Rhesus macaque serves as an important model animal in medical and genomics researches. The advances of these works rely heavily on the quality of rhesus macaque genome assembly. However, the current version of macaque genome assembly suffers from assembly errors and gaps, which hinder the progress of related researches. Taking the advantages of long read sequencing technology and combining it with next generation sequencing and Bionano optical map, we generate a de novo rhesus macaque assembly with higher quality and less gaps. This new version of assembly will greatly facilitate related fields using rhesus macaque as model animal.
