Interview Transcripts: Narratives on the experiences and effects of an inclusive Pickleball program for individuals with Severe Mental Disorder

This dataset consists of 19 anonymized transcripts from semi-structured qualitative interviews conducted with a total of 20 individuals diagnosed with Severe Mental Disorder (SMD). Please note that one of the transcripts corresponds to a joint (dyadic) interview with twin brothers who requested to participate together. The primary objective of this research is to explore the narratives and lived experiences of these individuals after actively participating in an inclusive Pickleball sports program for a minimum of one year. The interviews aim to identify and understand the perceived effects of this intervention on three main areas: Their mental health and well-being. Their physical well-being. Their social relationships and sense of belonging. Their Basical Psichological Needs Accesibility of the sport Posible Gender Barriers Schools aplications of the sport Methodological and Ethical Notes: The sample is perfectly gender-balanced, comprising 10 male and 10 female participants. To ensure strict confidentiality and ethical compliance, all transcripts have undergone a rigorous de-identification process. Pseudonyms have been assigned, and identifiable markers (such as specific locations, institutions, and third-party names) have been removed or modified. Furthermore, sensitive demographic data, such as specific ages of outlier participants, have been omitted to prevent deductive identification. Language: The original interviews were conducted in Spanish; however, the transcripts provided in this dataset have been translated into English for international accessibility.
