Historical and Colonial Census Data Archive (HCCDA)

The Historical Census and Colonial Data Archive (HCCDA) is an archive of Australian colonial census publications and reports covering the period from 1833 to 1901, the year of Australia's federation. The complete HCCDA archive is 243 GB in size and includes 18,638 pages of text, and approximately 15000 tables, with full digital images, text conversion and individually identified pages and tables. Please note that the archive contains colonial census reports, but not individual census returns.

The data does not report any details of individuals.<br><br>
Multiple formats of the census data are available in this dataset: <br>
- All digitised tables by format (ADA.HCCDA.TABLES.zip, ADA.HCCDA.XHTML.zip).<br>
- State and year digitised tables as searchable PDFs (State-year-census.pdf). <br>
- Original scanned volumes zipped by state as PDFs (Colonial Censues state PDF of original scanned volumes.zip). <br> <br>
The HTML tables are also available to access directly from <b>https://hccda.ada.edu.au/ </b> website in two formats: <BR>
- collated census tables by state and year.<br>
- individual tables by state/year/page.
