Comparing Action Observation and Motor Imagery Training: A Two-Week Intervention on Squat Vertical Jump Performance

This dataset contains the raw squat vertical jump (SVJ) performance data from a two-week, six-session randomized study comparing the effects of action observation (AO) and motor imagery (MI), delivered as a brief pre-movement stimulus, on explosive jump performance in novice adults. One hundred healthy participants (50 male, 50 female) were assigned to an AO group (n = 40), an MI group (n = 40), or a control group (n = 20). For each of the six training sessions, two jump heights were recorded with an Optojump® optical system: an unstimulated basic jump (BJ) and a post-stimulus jump, both in centimetres. Participant anthropometrics (age, height, weight, and BMI) are also included. Data are provided as an Excel workbook with one worksheet per group-by-sex cell (AO, MI, and control, males and females separately). The dataset supports all analyses reported in the associated article. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Azm Center for Research in Biotechnology and its Applications, Lebanese University (approval CE-EDST-1-2017).
