This data set includes subjective ratings on listening effort, speech intelligibility and pupil size evaluated in the follwing paper. Listening effort for soft speech in quiet Hendrik Husstedt, Jennifer Schmidt, Luca Wiederschein, Robert Wiedenbeck, Markus Kemper, Florian Denk Trends in Hearing, https://doi.org/10.1177/23312165251370006 All data is provided as “*.mat“ files for Matlab. “SpeechIntelligibilityLevels.mat” contains the speech levels used for the measurement of pupil size (speechlev) according to Table 1, which are the result of the OLSA and ACALES measurements performed before the measurement of pupil size. Moreover, speech intelligibility during the measurement of pupil size is provided (speechint). “ExperiencedListeningEffort.mat” contains the results of the ACALES measurements. which are partly identical with the speech levels (speechlev). “GazeTable_P1.mat” contains the results of the pupil size experiment for participant 1. The column “Event” contains a decimal number if an event occurred, which is coded as BlockID*100+CondtionID*10+TimingID. - BlockID: Number from 1-8 indicating the block order. (The block is merely a subdivision of the experiment and does not hold any additional significance.) - ConditionID: 1=SRT20; 2=SRT50; 3=SRT80; 4=ESCU13; 5=ESCU9; 6=ESCU5; 7=ESCU1; 8=60dBFixed; - TimingID: 1=begin of 1st pause; 2=begin of OLSA sentence (end 1st pause); 3=end of OLSA sentence (begin 2nd pause); 4= end of 2nd pause (begin response window); “FollowUpExperiment.mat” contains the OLSA (olsa) and ACALES (acales) results of the follow-up experiment. Both variables are three dimensional arrays: - 1st dimension: 1=SRT20; 2=SRT50; 3=SRT80; or 1=ESCU13; 2=ESCU11; 3=ESCU9; 4=ESCU7; 5=ESCU5; 6=ESCU3; 7=ESCU1; - 2nd dimension: 1=OLnoise; 2=HTSN; - 3rd dimension: Participant ID; “HTSN.wav” contains the hearing threshold simulation noise used in the follow-up experiment.
