Treatment of (MeC5H4)2LnCl with NaNPh2 in THF affords the supramolecular amide complexes [Na(THF)2(μ-η5:η5-MeC5H4)2Ln(NPh2)2]n (Ln = Sm (1), Er (2)). Both complexes have an alternating −Cp−Ln−Cp−Na− chain structure, and each lanthanide atom is coordinated with two η5-MeC5H4 rings and two NPh2, while Na is coordinated by two η5-MeC5H4 rings and two THF without interacting with any amido ligands.
