In May 2020, the sales value of above-ground pools increased by over 100 percent compared to May 2019. Similarly, the sales value of barbecues grew by 88 percent. Overall, the sales value of gardening items experienced a consistent increase in May 2020, whereas it recorded a significant drop in both March and April. On March 9, 2020, the Italian government announced a national lockdown to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. On May 4, Italy started to ease this emergency measure.
