VENT-RED v1.0 — Pedagogical impact dataset: student survey responses, R analysis script, and run log

This deposit accompanies the manuscript "Computational transparency as cognitive scaffolding in resource-constrained engineering education: Technical validation and pedagogical impact of an open-access ventilation design tool" (Benavides-Muñoz, Heras-Benavides & Feijoo Veintimilla, 2026). It contains the full reproducibility package for the pedagogical impact analysis of VENT-RED v1.0, a free and open-access duct-sizing tool tested with 189 engineering students across three cohorts at Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (Ecuador). Files Input_data.xlsx — Anonymised survey responses (N = 189; Student_ID, Group, and five 5-point Likert items: Manual_Complex, Time_Reduction, Conceptual_Understanding, Design_Confidence, Transparency_Learning). VENT-RED.R — Single-file R script that ingests Input_data.xlsx and reproduces every table (T01–T11) and figure (F2–F12) reported in the manuscript: descriptive statistics, Cronbach α, diverging Likert plots, one-sample tests against the neutral midpoint, Kruskal–Wallis with Dunn post-hoc, Spearman correlations, multiple linear regression with diagnostics, VIF, LMG relative-importance decomposition, and cohort × item agreement heatmap. 00_run_log.txt — Verbatim console capture from one full execution of the script, including all tables and the academic interpretation block. Reproducibility. Place all three files in the same working directory and run the script in R ≥ 4.2. Required CRAN packages are listed and auto-installed at the top of the script. Outputs are written to ./FIGS_VENT/ as PNG (600 dpi), SVG, PDF and XLSX. A sessionInfo.txt is generated automatically.
