Main network utilitarian and recreational bicycle connections

Provincial Main Network Bicycle: utilitarian and recreational main network and plus routes. The province primarily wants to facilitate utilitarian bicycle traffic between cores. A utilitarian cycling network includes connections that are desirable for functional reasons, connections between A and B, targeted cycling between origin and destination. As stated in the college program, mainly focused on the ‘work’ movement motive, by facilitating heavy commuting connections. The network also includes routes to unlock key secondary education institutions and core shopping areas. A number of recreational destinations such as swimming lakes or the windmills of Kinderdijk are also included in the utilitarian network. Routes for recreational detours, however, are not. This is an update of the utilitarian main network from 2013 supplemented by the recreational main network.
