Hourly dust emission flux over East Asia during 2001 to 2017

This dataset provides the hourly dust emission flux simulated by a physically-based dust emission model (DuEM v1) over East Asia during 2001 to 2017. The domain covers a region of 15-55 ºN, 70-140 ºE. The horizontal resolution is 0.5º (latitude) x 0.625º (longitude). In addition to hourly dust emission flux, daily and monthly dust emission flux are also derived and provided. In addition to a baseline simulation, three sensitive simulations are also provided. Observations of dust storm days used for evaluating the model performance are provided as well.  This dataset can be used to understand the spatial-temporal variations of dust activity in East Asia especially the roles of surface wind speed, vegetation cover, and soil moisture. This dataset can be also used to study the impacts of dust aerosol on the environment and climate. This dataset is used to support the manuscript submitted to Nature Communications: "Drivers of recent decline in dust activity over East Asia".
