The sequence of Trypanosoma cruzi CAN III IIa cl.1. Trypanosoma cruzi strain:CAN III IIa cl.1

Trypanosoma cruzi is the etiologic agent of Chagas disease, affecting millions of people in the Western hemisphere with a wide range of disease pathologies. T. cruzi CAN III IIa cl.1 is being sequenced along with other representatives of the three major lineages of trypanosomatid parasites. These efforts are expected to improve the understanding of the mechanisms by which these pathogens cause disease and to impact treatment and prophylactic measures.
