Lactobacillus spp from pelvic inflammatory disease

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), which involves infection and inflammation of the female reproductive tract, can lead to sequelae including chronic pelvic pain, ectopic pregnancy and tubal factor infertility. A causative pathogen is not found in many PID cases (idiopathic) and there are no molecular diagnostic tests available. This study was a pilot case-control to identify vaginal and cervical microbiome associated with PID.
