Major and trace element data of clinopyroxenes and clinopyroxene-hosted trachytic melt inclusions from the Samoan hotspot track.

Major and trace element analyses in clinopyroxene and their enclosed melt inclusions. The clinopyroxenes and inclusions are found within a single Samoan hotspot lava, ALIA-D115 (Jackson et al., 2007), from Savai'i Island, western Samoa. This lava exhibits the second-highest 87Sr/86Sr value ever recorded for an ocean island lava. The melt inclusions are trachytic in composition and could reflect magma source characteristics beneath Samoa. The inclusions were never heated and are thought to be relatively pristine exhibiting minor post-entrapment modification. See Adams et al.
