Immigrant parenting and youth mental health: Co-designing a cross-cultural bridging intervention to increase Indian-origin parents’ engagement in an online parenting program

Mental health problems are rising around the world. Parenting programs can help parents prevent these problems in their children. However, immigrant parents’ engagement with such programs is low. To address this problem, this thesis has systematically examined why Indian-origin immigrant parents in Australia do not engage with such programs. Then, it collaborated with them to develop an intervention focused on an issue highly relevant to immigrant parents: cultural conflict with their children. This intervention, with real-life examples and relatable characters, connects the participants to Partners in Parenting – a research-based, award-winning online parenting program.
