To investigate the aerodynamic interference effect and flow field mechanism of the tandem rectangular column, this paper adopts the method of large vortex simulation to obtain the aerodynamic coefficients, wind pressure coefficients, non-Gaussian distributions of wind pressure, and the flow field characteristics of tandem rectangular columns with a width/thickness ratio B/D (the ratio of the width B in the downwind direction to the thickness D in the crosswind direction) of 2 under different spacing ratios. The results show that there is a critical spacing for the aerodynamic coefficients of the tandem double rectangular columns with a width-to-width ratio of 2. The critical spacing is within the range of 2 ≤ L/D ≤ 2.5, and the average wind pressure distributions of the upstream and downstream rectangular columns and the distribution of the pulsating wind pressures are obviously different near this spacing. With the gradual increase of the spacing ratio of the tandem double rectangular columns, the interference effect of the upstream and downstream rectangular columns gradually decreases.
