Effect of fire severity on soil microbial communities in a mixed temperate forest

To investigate post-fire development of forest soil microbiome, we established 24 long-term plots across a burn severity gradient in a mixed temperate forest. The main goal of the project was to determine the impacts of different levels of vegetation destruction by wildfire in temperate forests on microbial communities, with a particular focus on plant-associated soil microorganisms.
