NRS-392 | Reports of the Auditor-General

These reports are presented annually to the Legislative Assembly under the requirements of the Audit Act. The reports are printed and contain a summary of the financial dealings of government agencies during the preceding year and often a more detailed account of any special projects undertaken by a particular agency. Since the 1982/83 financial year, the Reports have been published in two parts: Part I, concerning the Public Accounts and general and specific reports relating to them; and Part II, containing comments, reports and financial information on the State's statutory authorities. The Public Accounts are prepared by the Treasurer under the terms of the Public Finance and Audit Act, 1983. Prior to the 1988/89 Financial year the Public Accounts formed an appendix to the report of the Auditor General. Amendments to the Act in 1989 resulted in the Public Accounts being tabled by the Treasurer in Parliament and published as a separate volume from the reports of the Auditor General.1931-1935, 1940-1941, 1949-1960, 1968-1976, 1981-83 (12/14-20), 1871-1923, 1925-1985 (6/20293-20308). 7 boxes and 49 vols.Note: This description, as amended, is extracted from Concise Guide to the State Archives of New South Wales, 3rd Edition 2000.
