The complete mitogenome of G. pentaphyllum was sequenced and assembled, totaling 324,284 bp and organized into six circular chromosomes. It encoded 39 protein-coding genes, 15 tRNAs, and three rRNAs. A total of 850 RNA editing sites were identified, mostly nonsynonymous, with several introducing novel start or stop codons. Comparative analysis detected 17 chloroplast-derived fragments (12,371 bp, 3.81% of the genome), including six intact genes.
