In 1994, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) collected 1:15,000-scale true color aerial photographs in Mississippi River Navigation Pools 7 and 8. The FWS contracted the Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center (UMESC) to scan and georeference these images, to create reference images for use in geographic information system (GIS) software programs. These data are also distributed through the UMESC Web site so others can have access to the data as well.
