In 2020, South Africa had 220 organic producers. The number of producers increased from 154 in the previous year. From 2000 onwards, the count of producers of organic agriculture in the country fluctuated, peaking in 2008 at 767. Overall, the area of land used for organic agriculture in South Africa amounted to nearly 41 thousand hectares in 2020.
