This database primarily collects assessment data from the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) and the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS), covering mathematics, science and reading achievement scores as well as relevant background information of fourth and eighth grade students from over 70 countries worldwide. Since 1995, the center has conducted international assessments every four years, providing critical cross-national comparative data for educational policymakers and researchers.
