Digital edition and dataset (TEI-XML) of Cronica seu compendio de la Città di Mathera (1596) by Eustachio Verricelli, published online using the Aracne framework (project ID: ara9). The project was developed for the Casa delle Tecnologie emergenti di Matera (with Prof. Fulvio Delle Donne as scientific referent for the “3D Video Capture, AR/VR and Mixed Reality” lab) and within the PNRR Innovation Ecosystem Tech4You – Technologies for climate change adaptation and quality of life improvement, Goal G.4.1 (“Preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage (tangible and intangible sources) and local identities in Calabria and Basilicata”), directed by Prof. Fulvio Delle Donne (University of Basilicata). This digital edition reproduces the reference printed edition edited by M. Moliterni, C. Motta, and M. Padula: E. Verricelli, Cronica de la città di Matera nel Regno di Napoli, 1595 e 1596, Matera, BMG, 1987. Texts are encoded in TEI-XML and enriched with Linked Open Data (LOD)—primarily aligned to Wikidata—as an experiment in combining TEI markup with semantic data to build open, interoperable research databases. The publication environment is based on Aracne (developed by Alfredo Cosco). The LOD implementation benefited from the technical contribution of Alessandro De Troia. This Zenodo deposit contains the TEI XML files (and, if included, supporting documentation) underlying the online Aracne site.
