<p>American Demographics’ data bank contains, at the present time, over 2500 variable for 151 countries with a 1975 population of approximately 300,000 or more (as assessed by the United Nations). There are three blocks of information for every country. The first block (records 1-2) consist of population estimates and projections for every year between, and including, 1950 and 2000. Every series of total population estimates is preceded by a single qualifying code. The second block contains demographic indicators for the years 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, and 2000. Within every period, one reliability code precedes a number of types of variables – for a complete listing of these, please see the complete documentation available at CISER. The third block includes recent demographic indicators that are comparable across countries. Again, one qualifying (reliability) code precedes each block of related estimates that, both, come from the same sources and apply to the same year or interval.</p>
