California Quail is resident throughout the Pacific slope of western North America, from Baja California, north to southern British Columbia. The samples in this BioProject cover the entire species distribution in California and include the C. c. catalinensis subspecies of Santa Catalina Island, a state species of special concern.. These data have been produced as part of the CCGP. Sequencing was conducted with HiFi Pacific Biosciences long reads at UCDavis Genome Core, Dovetail's OmniC libraries, and Illumina sequencing at UCBerkeley QB3 Genomics Core.
