Sequence data from B. pendula root samples of different genotypes in the context of their origin

Experimental set-up, including the selection of source tree origins, genotypes and common garden fields is part of a large project aiming to test the adaptation of silver birch to climate change. A portion of the tree individuals (4 origins, 4 genotypes each, 4 replicates each) were sampled from a common garden field in Joensuu, Finland, to test whether tree origin or genotype affects the root fungal communities of the trees. After five growing seasons, tree roots were collected and sequenced for fungal DNA, and obtained sequence data was used to compare community compositions between genotypes and origins. Furthermore, data on tree biomass and height were collected.
