Dr. Sudha J. Sagar Photograph Collection

<p>The Dr. Sudha J. Sagar Collection contains photographs documenting Sagar's family, both in Chennai, India (formerly known as Madras) and in the United States. Photographs show Sagar; her husband, Dr. Satya Sagar; her daughter, Usha; her parents, Sivarama Sastry and Rajeswaram Vepa; her grandparents; and other friends and family. Photos include individual portraits and group portraits. Photos show individuals wearing pieces of clothing that were also donated to MHS. </p>

<p>Dr. Sudha J. Sagar was a first generation immigrant to St. Louis from Chennai, India (formerly known as Madras). She was born to Sivarama Sastry and Rajeswaram Vepa on December 14, 1936. She came to the United States on August 5, 1963 and settled in Toledo, Ohio, before moving to New York City, then Montreal, and finally settled in St. Louis in 1971. She married Dr. Satya Sagar, also an Indian immigrant, and they had one daughter, Usha. She passed away on May 25, 1995 in St. Louis after a ten year battle with cancer.</p>
