资源简介:
This dataset contains experimental data collected during the study “Presbyopia onset affects dynamic visual acuity via motor adaptation in naturalistic viewing conditions” (https://doi.org/10.1101/2025.04.04.25325235).
This study investigated the effect of age on dynamic visual acuity (DVA) during sitting, standing and walking in 4 groups of human participants: young, adult non-presbyopes, presbyopia onset and mature presbyopes. Age-related changes in DVA were also correlated with a number of binocular and motor variables in order to elucidate principal factors potentially mediating DVA decline with age. The analysis reveals that the strongest decline in DVA occures during presbyopia onset and this decine is mediated primarily by motor adaptation, and to a lesser degree by accommodation changes.
The Excel spreadsheet "DVA.xlsx" contains DVA measures collected in the 3 experimental conditions and using two different measurement modes (see the above preprint for details). Additional columns show the chronological age of the participants and distance-related variables characterizing smartphone holding behavior.
The Excel spreadsheet "Bino_Motor.xlsx" contains binocular and motor variables measured in each participant of the study. Correlation and regression analyzes were used to explore the dependence of age-related changes in DVA with these variables.
