The white-backed planthopper (WBPH), Sogatella furcifera (Horváth) (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) is one of the major pest in rice paddies in throughout Asia. WBPH is damage to rice by sucks rice phloem sap and transmits Southern rice black-streaked dwarf virus. The main method to control the planthopper is t application of chemicals. However, the long-term application of chemicals, will inevitably lead to resistance, planthopper resurgence and environmental pollution. Although the ecological mechanism of insecticide resistance has been studied extensively, but the physiological mechanism of WBPH is seldom clear. In this study, we tried to understand the mechanism of insecticide resistance with the alteration gene expression.
