Ammonia stress in anaerobic digestion

The present study focused on a one-year adaptation of mesophilic AD communities to stepwise increasing concentration of ammonium chloride in a synthetic medium, in order to decipher the microbial dynamics during the adaptation. The findings of this study provide insights into the mechanisms of ammonia stress resistance in AD. Thus, the outcome of this work has enormous implications for renewable energy production and broad applicability.
