Global Islands Energy Transition Dataset

This dataset provides global geospatial, socio-economic, and natural resource information for the world's islands, with a specific focus on variables relevant to the energy transition. It combines a global geospatial layer with harmonised indicators to support the preliminary clustering of islands based on their energy transition potential and constraints, as well as broader comparative spatial analyses. The package includes spatial geometries (GPKG) and tabular data (CSV) detailing renewable energy potential (solar, wind, biomass, hydro, geothermal), meteorology, and socio-economic metrics (population, GDP, electricity consumption) for over 4000 islands.
