ileal and colonic microbiota in weaned piglets fed with basal diet or 0.5% Lactobacillus reuteri SLZX19-12

By feeding the piglets weaned at 28 days of age for 28 days, the 0.5% L. reuteri SLZX19-12 in feed improved the morphology of small intestine and decreased diarrhea incident of weaned piglets. At the same time, supplementation of L. reuteri SLZX19-12 significantly decreased the expressions of intestinal pro-inflammatory factors, increased the expression of colonic barrier protein Claudin 3 and reshaped the expressions of intestinal host defense peptides, which may be mediated by the changed intestinal microbiota and metabolome.
