European countries with the highest outbound tourism expenditure 2019-2022

Both before and after the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Germany was the European country with the highest outbound tourism expenditure. In 2022, Germany's outbound tourism spending amounted to nearly 90 billion U.S. dollars, increasing sharply over the previous year but remaining below pre-pandemic levels. The United Kingdom and France followed in the ranking in 2022, with outbound tourism spending reaching around 82 billion and 41 billion U.S. dollars, respectively.
