资源简介:
Executive SummaryThis report presents findings from a community engagement event designed to understand the lived experiences of ethnic minority women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and identify research priorities for improving care in this population. Through structured discussions, arts-based activities and priority-setting exercises, participants explored the complex intersections between PCOS, healthcare experiences, and long-term health implications. The event revealed significant gaps in healthcare provision and understanding of PCOS as a lifelong metabolic condition rather than merely a reproductive disorder. Participants emphasised the profound impact of PCOS on body image, mental health and quality of life, while highlighting the urgent need for preventive interventions targeting cardiometabolic risk.Five key themes emerged as potential research priorities:· Healthcare System Failures and Diagnostic Delays· Body Image, Identity, and Cultural Stigma· The Hidden Metabolic Burden· Individualised Care and Treatment Variability· Community Support and Self-Advocacy
