We propose to monitor 1ES 2344+514 to better understand its intermittent extremestates. 1ES 2344+514 is a nearby BL Lac type object known for behaving as anextremely high-frequency peaked BL Lac object (EHBL) occasionally. During anX-ray flare in 1996 a shift of the synchrotron peak to frequencies above3*10**18 Hz was reported suggesting that the EHBL nature is correlated with theflux level. Still the small number of published MWL observations does not allowfor a coherent picture. In fact thanks to recent Xray observations we organizedin 2020 we reveal an EHBL behaviour during low activity while we also foundstrong flaring periods without EHBL characteristics. [truncated!
