In this study, we used an RNA-seq transcriptomic approach and a germ-free fish model to determine the response of newly hatched zebrafish embryos (2 days post-fertilization) after 24 h exposure to the fish-associated yeast Pseudozyma sp. Our findings reveal a key role of Pseudozyma sp. in regulating metabolic pathways and immune-related processes in germ-free zebrafish, suggesting that commensal yeast may play a significant part in the early development of fish larvae
