RNA-seq of Neisseria gonorrhoeae transformants with reduced cephalosporin susceptibility. Neisseria gonorrhoeae

Several clinical isolates of Neisseria gonorrhoeae with reduced susceptibility to cephalosporins lack known resistance-associated mutations. We identified the loci contributing to resistance in these strains by transforming a cephalosporin-susceptible isolate with candidate mutations from these resistant isolates. We then sequenced the transcriptomes of the susceptible recipient strain, resistant parental isolates, and resistant transformants to determine how the novel resistance-associated mutations we identified affect transcriptional profiles.
