Origin of the piglet gut microbiome using strain-resolved longitudinal metagenomics

The piglet gut microbiome has been linked to numerous aspects of swine health and productivity. However, little is known about the factors that contribute to the initial colonization of the neonatal gut. The goal of this study is to use shotgun metagenomics sequencing to analyze piglet fecal samples collected in the three weeks following birth, along with sow fecal samples and environmental samples, to identify potential sources of early life microbial colonization in pigs.
