Density and diameter of ChAT+ varicosities and length of ChAT+ fiber segments within microproximity of activated pyramidal cells in Layer V of IL.

All values are means ± SEM in 3 groups of rats: visual stimulation only, HDB stimulation only, and visual/HDB stimulation. No statistical significance was found among these 3 groups regarding ChAT+ varicosity density, diameter or fiber length (p>0.05, Mann-Whitney U test, two-tailed). Density of ChAT+ varicosities is expressed in number of varicosities/µm of ChAT+ fiber segment. Diameter of ChAT+ varicosities is expressed in nm. ChAT+ fiber length is expressed in µm.
