This dataset accompanies the manuscript "A Numerical Study of Electrokinetically Generated Pre-Earthquake Geoelectric Fields in Layered Porous Media" and presents the results of a numerical investigation into geoelectric precursors induced by the electrokinetic effect during earthquake preparation. The dataset includes outputs from a novel algorithm based on the Luco-Apsel-Chen Generalized Reflection and Transmission Method (LAC GRTM) (Chen 1999; Ren et al. 2010, 2012) for simulating electrokinetic geoelectric fields in stratified porous media. The data reveals how the temporal evolution of the vertical electric field correlates with pore pressure changes, how variations in water saturation and permeability influence electric field strength, and how the earthquake parameters affect the amplitude of the electric field. This processed dataset is a valuable resource for further research on the use of geoelectric signals in monitoring earthquake preparation (Zheng et al. 2024).
The results are organized into multiple datasets, which are stored across several MATLAB .fig files. The captions in these files are numbered consistently with those displayed in the main text. Each dataset corresponds to different simulation conditions and includes both numerical outputs and visual representations, facilitating easy analysis and interpretation of the data. Additionally, we provide a MATLAB code titled "Extract_Data_from_MATLAB_fig_File.m", which demonstrates methods for extracting data from MATLAB .fig files in various situations.
