Economies of agglomeration, mass public transport systems type BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) and geographical location decisions of companies

Abstract The literature associated with Agglomeration Economies has traditionally dealt with the relationship between the economic and the urban development of cities, including enterprises as object of study. This article seeks to review the literature on the possible causal relationship between capital flows generated by the location decisions of companies and the supply of BRT-type transport services. Given the topic of the doctoral work that generated this review, these proposals are analyzed in comparison with the results of the stated research, finding particularities for the city of Bogotá that could complement the traditional postulates of the literature, allowing this fact to be proposed as an argument to remark the need to carry out empirical validation studies that allow discussing and complementing the theoretical body available in this regard. As a main contribution, the identification of some theoretical and empirical verification gaps on the analysis and verification of the possible effects of investments in BRT-type mass public transport systems on strategic decisions regarding the geographical location of companies is highlighted. that this article tries to contribute to.
