Comparative gene expression profiles of isolated islets of GK and Wistar rats using Affymetrix Rat Clariom-S data.

Goto-Kakizaki (GK) rat is a spontaneous nonobese T2DM model which has clinical and pathological similarities with Japanese patient and was often used to study T2DM and its complications. GK rat and Wistar rat exhibited different islet functions and phenotypes such as insulin secretion deficiency and mild insulin resistance. We used microarrays to unravel the molecular basis underlying these alterations of endocrine cell componentsby use of isolated pancreatic islets of GK and Wistar rats at the age of 29 weeks.
