Pf population structure in Kenya, msp1 sequencing

This study used amplicon deep sequencing to determine the clonal diversity of Plasmodium falciparum parasites in Kenya. This was done by sequencing the MSP1 gene - a highly polymorphic gene that is expressed on the surface of the parasite. The results will improve our understanding of the population structure of P. falciparum, which could be used to develop more effective malaria control strategies in Kenya.
