Effects of high doses of cholecacyferol on gene expression in the jejunum and colon of pigs

High doses of vitamin D increase antiviral response but increase expression of oncogenic genes in the intestine of pigs. Overall design: Thirty male fatteners, the progeny of Large White sows x Landrace boar, were assigned to one of three experimental groups (n=10) through stratified randomization. The animals were provided with isoprotein and isoenergetic feeds, differing only in the amount of vitamin D (Group A, Group B - 5,000, Group C - 10,000 IU/kg of feed).
