Standardized datasets from the "Protocol of Plague Deaths" from Hermannstadt/Sibiu, 1738-1739

These interrelated datasets stem from the historical urban plague register kept by the authorities of Hermannstadt/Sibiu between 1738-1739. This source chronicled all deaths due to plague that took place in the city, and offers finely granular information on the social-economic condition of individuals, households, and neighborhoods. The way the data was extracted, the structure of the source, and the resulting tables are described in depth in the accompanying paper, by Sorescu-Iudean and Dumănescu (2025). The Codebook file offers information on each column type, content, and database layer (whether original or standard).
