Mechanism investigation of the Meloidogyne graminicola resistance in rice

Four resistant rice varieties with high resistence to M. graminicola were discovered by screening a large-scale populations in this study. The resistance gene Mg1 were identified by map-based cloning and determined to play an essential role in nematode-resistent process by gene knockout and genetic complementarity experiments. Further transcriptomic analysis, histochemical staining and protein interation analysis reveal a preliminary mechanism of Mg1 in controlling the nematode resistance in the nematode feeding site invovling SA and JA phytohormones, and probably together with MgBP1. These results provide effective resistance resources and significant theoretical foundation for breeding new rice varieties with stable yield and high disease resistance.
