The aim of this study was to perform Next-generation RNA sequencing to analyse the expression of transmembrane proteins in human astrocytes and compare the prevalance of transcriptional variants thereof. Human astrocyte cell cultures were allowed to grow to 70% confluence in DMEM supplemented with 10% FBS and 1% antibiotics. RNA was isolated from the cultured cells and processed to prepare cDNA libraries compatible with Illumina HiSeq NEXT Generation high-throughput sequencer. After the 2 x 100bp Illumina HiSeq paired-end sequencing run was complete, data in the form of BCL files was procured and processed to obtain relevant findings.
