FIELD: biochemistry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a genetically modified plant cell with high tolerance to the herbicide based on an acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitor, as well as to a plant, a plant part, a plant seed and a plant fruit containing said cell. Also disclosed is a method of producing said genetically modified plant cell, as well as a method for embedding one or more exogenous sequences into a genome of a plant cell. Invention also relates to zinc finger nuclease for producing a genetically modified plant cell, as well as for use in AHAS gene splitting.
